Being the crossroad of cultures that we are, our Singapore scene is big on representation with gigs that underscore diversity, much attuned to the unity-focused foundation of electronic music. It’s a beautiful thing to witness when people come together to celebrate roots and tradition, and like the appeal of a tantalising dessert topping, this upcoming event is taking the cake with its minority-minded concept. But this ain’t no whipped cream – this is an event proudly called FUDGE.
Billed as a celebration of Indian and South Asian music and creativity, FUDGE is the brainchild of several party organisers. You have fiesta instigators GrooveTop fresh off their seventh anniversary shindig teaming up with Twelve Degrees Events that champions South Asian acts, and they’ve enlisted the co-organising guidance of RAAJ (Joshua Pillai) who’s embraced his musical heritage in recent years. Together, they’re cooking up FUDGE on 31 May at Ida’s Bar in Gillman Barracks, and they’ve gathered “a lineup of local brown brilliance”.

The FUDGE lineup is a mix of live acts and DJ performances. The former includes vocalist Dita Jacob and guitarist extraordinaire Isuru Wijesoma who perform collectively as Ta-Sur, and Drummernoor on live percussions. On the decks, you’ve got the stacked crew of Ramesh, Tashasan, James Selva, NASH.D, DJ Boss, Prav and RAAJ himself; dropping fire with hip-hop, house, electronica and even some classical ragas in the mix. So come get a taste no matter your colour – everyone loves some good ol’ fudge.
